Have these complexities been giving you headaches in the past? Well, here’s the solution: Star Alliance Conventions Plus, a tailor-made airline travel product for conventions travel offered by the 24* member airline alliance.

Star Alliance, the Way the Earth Connects, offers a worldwide network of more than 18,000 daily flights to 975 destinations in 162 countries. For convention organisers this means that in the vast majority of cases, a suitable flight itinerary for delegates can be found using the Star Alliance network. And the network is set to grow even further, with Air India, TAM and Continental joining in the near future.

With all this choice, how does Conventions Plus actually work? It’s pretty simple. Rather than having to contact various airlines, simply submit a request for proposal (RFP) on the www.staralliance.com/conventionsplus website. The Star Alliance member carrier in the country where the event takes place then becomes your single point of contact for the contract arrangements. Once the contract has been finalised, flights can be booked and ticketed through any participating Star Alliance member airlines, using the event code assigned to the event.

In general Star Alliance offers up to 20 percent discount depending on the type of fare, class of travel and airline used. Discounted fares are available to delegates and one accompanying person. Delegates will be able to book their own travel through any participating member carrier using the given event code.

In addition, Star Alliance Conventions Plus also offers organisers support in the form of support tickets which may be used for site inspections, committee travel and guest speaker travel.

In order to qualify for Conventions Plus benefits, conferences should be truly global events with a minimum number of 500 international delegates from at least three different countries and two continents. The lead time to the event should be a minimum of six months.
