Korea MICE ExpoBusiness Meeting

Korea MICE Expo 2012
July 3-5, 2012, Seoul

Hosted Buyer Program Information
Meeting professionals wondering what a world top-5 convention city like Seoul has to offer them need look no further than the Korea MICE Expo, the nation's largest business events trade fair. Between the presenting local businesses, networking opportunities, local tours, and discussion forums, the KME is just too good an event to miss.

This will be the third year Seoul has hosted the fair, the Korean capital having worked hard since it successfully bid in 2009 to turn the KME into a major brand expo for the nation. Under Seoul's stewardship, it has continued to foster the growing international interest in South Korea and its capital as a major business events destination, and KME 2012 looks set to take that enthusiasm further still. Fully 200 exhibitors will be presenting this year (up from 176 in 2011), with 120 overseas buyers (up from 100) and 180 local buyers (up from 151) will be in attendance to see what's on display.

Among the many highlights of the packed three-day schedule, signature event, the Seoul MICE Forum, will return under the theme 'The Power Of MICE'. The forum, which in previous years focused upon the technological and environmental impact of the industry, will this year also look at the way in which business events benefit society at large, from the creation of jobs to the cultural impact of business tourism. The confirmed sub-sessions are: Economic Effects, discussing the impact of heavy investment in meetings infrastructure and the success of Seoul's public-private MICE relationship; Social Effects, looking at the social responsibility of the MICE sector in creating jobs; and Cultural Effects, discussing ways of using business events to develop and promote local culture, in particular the 'Korean Wave' phenomenon, a term used to describe the popularity of Korean pop culture worldwide, especially in Asia.

The annual forum discussions feature notable keynote speakers from the global meetings industry KME 2011 saw contributions by Andy Nazarechuk, founding Dean of University of Nevada Las Vegas-Singapore, and former ICCA President Pieter van der Hoeven.

The annual event will again be held at the Coex convention and exhibition center, venue not only of previous expos, but also the recent Seoul Nuclear Security Summit and 2010 Seoul G-20 Summit.
