Korea MICE Expo 2012
Draws Near
Seoul will soon be the venue for a series of in-depth talks on the socio-economic impact of today's meetings industry when international meeting professionals gather in the city for the Seoul MICE Forum, part of the forthcoming 2012 Korea MICE Expo to be held this coming July 3-5. Under the theme, 'The Power of MICE', the forum will explore how business events benefit local economies and boost employment levels during 3 sessions, entitled 'Boosting Economies', 'Changing Societies', and 'Enriching Cultures'. This will be followed by further sessions, as well as the Future Leaders Forum and the MICE Youth Challenge – all highlights of the packed three-day schedule.

Among those scheduled to speak at the forum on July 3rd is Professor Tony Rogers of Leeds Metropolitan University, who will be delivering a keynote address. Other speakers include Professor Larry Dwyer of the University of New South Wales, Jill Henry, former CEO of the Sarawak Convention Bureau, and Bent Hadler, CEO of Hadler DMC.

Later that day will be a special session conducted in partnership with professional convention organizers MCI, featuring corporate meeting representatives from various overseas firms.

A key event for July 4th is this year's KME Future Leaders Forum, jointly-run by IMEX, MPI and MCI. A regular feature of major business events trade shows, the forum is a series of talks and round-table discussions designed to encourage local youths studying in related fields to consider careers as meetings professionals. Confirmed speakers for the event include Seoul Convention Bureau vice-present Maureen O'Crowley and IMEX Group Events and Projects Planner, Miguel Neves.

On July 5th, the Seoul MICE Youth Challenge returns to give university students from Korea and abroad the chance to participate in a mock-bidding contest in front of a panel of experienced events industry professionals.

This is the third consecutive year Seoul has hosted the nation's premier business events trade show, which will once again be held at the Coex convention and exhibition center. This year's KME will see the largest turn-out yet, with 120 international buyers and 180 local buyers expected to attend.
