As Beijing readies for the 2008
Olympics, the city is investing US$40 billion on upgrading
its infrastructure and building a large compound to be used as
headquarters for China Central Television (CCTV). This complex will
include the Mandarin Oriental Beijing hotel, which will open in time
for the Olympics. Starwood, the creators of the W
Hotels concept have come up with a fresh new take on hotel stays
with the creation of aloft
hotels. A stay at an aloft hotel will more like living in a
high tech loft with fresh air and natural light. Starwood is
planning to open 500 aloft properties worldwide by 2012. The first
Australian aloft hotel will open in Sydney in 2009. You’ll find
more information about the Mandarin
Oriental Beijing and aloft
Sydney Airport, O’Riordan Street in this
edition.
Until next
time Best

KLCC High on Food Safety
The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre
keeps going from success to success. The center increases value added
services for its clients as its popularity continues to grow.
The latest value added service is in the area of food safety.
The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) is the first
convention center in Malaysia to achieve Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP)
certification. HACCP
certification is a food safety system that reduces or eliminates the
risk of food hazards. The system checks food starting from
selection, preparation and production processes. The HACCP method is
not commonly used in convention centers and 5-Star hotels but it is
used by the airline and food & beverage
industry. The certification assures planners on
the safety and quality of the
KLCC’s food and beverage services. Web site: http://www.klccconventioncentre.com |
