China Southern Airlines has launched an international global website, www.flychinasouthern.com, which allows e-ticketing. The new website is available in seven different languages including simplified Chinese, complex Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, French and Dutch and it supports on-line payment in five currencies; US dollars, Hong Kong dollars, Singapore dollars, British pounds and Euros.

New Zealand's Auckland International Airport is getting a second runway. The new runway will be built in two stages with the first stage seeing completion in 2011.

Hong Kong: Eaton Hotel Hong Kong Completes Renovation

The 461-room Eaton Hotel Hong Kong recently completed a US$18 million renovation that focused on making the 5-Star property more appealing to the new generation of business travelers. Each of the hotel's guest rooms is decorated in warm, earthy tones and outfitted with 100% cotton, 300-threadcount bedding. Each room is equipped with magnifying make-up/shaving mirrors, anti-mist bathroom mirrors, powerful hairdryers, the latest LCD TVs, universal power sockets and integrated coffee/tea making facilities. Additional room features include the 'Eaton Easy Chairs' as well as broadband Internet links complimented by high-tech iHomeTM IH5WB technology, the world's first stereo clock radio connecting to iPods.

The Eaton Hotel Banquet and Conference Centre accommodates 550 and has three ballrooms and 10 function rooms in 3,000 sqm/32,292 sqft. All meeting facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art AV equipment as well as wireless broadband connectivity. Hotel event executives work closely with event planners from the beginning to end of each program.

The hotel's new E Club features an all day lounge with computers and Internet access and serves breakfasts, cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and Moet et Chandon in the evenings. Dining venues include the award-winning signature restaurant, Yat Tung Heen that serves "nouvelle Cantonese" cuisine, the Coffee Shop, the 24-hour Lobby Lounge, the Aroma Coffee Exchange with trained baristas and the lush outdoor Garden Terrace.

The Eaton Hotel is located on Nathan Lane in downtown Kowloon, close to the Jordan MTR station.

Thailand: Best Western Chiang Mai

Best Western
Best Western International is opening a property in northern Thailand. The 100-room, Best Western Chiang Mai opens in December. Guest rooms comprise 87 superior rooms and 13 suites with private balconies overlooking Doi Suthep Mountain and the northern Thai countryside.

Junior and Grand Suites feature living rooms with day beds, and all guest rooms are wired with the latest e-connections. The jewel of this hotel is the Mountain View function room located on the top floor. The glass rooftop provides a 360-degree view of Chiang Mai and Doi Suthep Mountain. The room is 322 sqm/3,466 sqft and accommodates up to 300 delegates in theater style or 200 for a banquet. There is also a 175 sqm/1,884 sqft foyer. The spa has six therapy rooms.

The three-storey property is located in Chiang Mai's commercial and tourism center, just five minutes from the airport and downtown.

Singapore: St Regis Singapore Opens in December

StRegis Singapore

St. Regis Hotel opens on 22 December in Singapore. The property is located on Orchard Road and features 299 oversized guest rooms and suites. Meeting facilities comprise 1,500 sqm/16,148 sqft of space divided into six function rooms and the John Jacob Ballroom, which features a high ceiling, crystal chandeliers and two large skylights.

The Ballroom accommodates up to 800 guests. Dining at the St. Regis will be a treat with Les Saveurs, a French restaurant lead by a celebrity chef with a two Michelin star background, Yan Ting the Chinese restaurant, LaBrezza the Mediterranean terrace restaurant, Decanter the wine bar, and the Astor Bar, which is a tribute to the St. Regis Hotel New York, where the Bloody Mary was first perfected.

The property will have a spa, an outdoor pool and of course, butler service.

Australia: InterContinental is Coming to Melbourne

InterContinental
InterContinental Hotels & Resorts is to open in Melbourne, Australia following the closing of the historic Rialto Hotel on Collins on 14 October 2007. The property will undergo a complete refurbishment of all public and guest areas that will reinstate it as one of the city's best examples of 19th century architecture. The Rialto Hotel consists of two buildings divided by an original blue-stone cobbled lane. Both buildings were constructed in 1891 and housed Melbourne's wool stores and offices. This historic site will be protected and restored in conjunction with The National Trust. The property will open as an InterContinenal late 2008.

India: Continental to Mumbai

Continental Airlines

Continental launched a non-stop service from Newark Liberty International Airport to Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport earlier this month. The service will initially operate four times weekly and then switch to daily frequencies on 28 October. Equipment used on this route is a Boeing 777-200 aircraft configured in two classes of service, BusinessFirst and Economy.
