The Grand Aston City Hall Medan opened this month in North Sumatra, Indonesia. The city of Medan’s original 120-year old City Hall is incorporated into the hotel lobby. Grand Aston Medan features 205 guest rooms and a separate tower with 40 serviced apartments. The Mahogany Ballroom, one of Sumatra’s only acoustically engineered ballrooms, seats 1,200-theatre style and 850 for a banquet. Combined with its mezzanine level featuring glass windows that overlook the entire ballroom, the Mahogany seats 1,100 for a banquet. The Cypress Room, which divides into two rooms, accommodates 290 for a banquet and the Rosewood Rooms 1 and 2 will open in May.
