IDEAS: Carbon-less Meeting
|
China World Hotel, Beijing’s newly launched Carbon-less Meeting Program gives meeting organizers the option of going all‑out green.
Meeting organisers receive a certificate of appreciation that recognises them for choosing the green meeting over the normal meeting package.
Two percent of revenue received from this programme goes into a green fund for sustainable projects with a local beneficiary school. The hotel is currently exploring a development of an environment‑related module that will educate schoolchildren about their environment.
On top of encouraging meeting organisers and attendees to organize paperless meetings, they are given the choice to take up carbon‑less options such as use of hybrid car and carbon‑less sightseeing excursions.
Based on a three‑day meeting for 30 people, the Carbon‑less Meeting Program is estimated to save 1,095 kilograms of CO2 emission.
