The Year of the Dragon is off to a great start with hotels and CVBs incentives vying for the attention of MICE groups. The ever-present value-adds are there. Rebates and discounts give some incentive programs/packages more punch.

Some companies' bottom lines have started improving and some still in need of improvement. But whatever the case, stretching the dollar is always a welcome option.

MACAU: MGTO Launches "Incentive Travel Stimulation Program"
MacauMacau Government Tourist Office launched the "Incentive Travel Stimulation Program" from January to December 2012 to continue its support in boosting the development of business tourism.
The incentive groups should have a minimum of 50 non-local participants with at least two consecutive nights of stay in Macau hotel. A maximum support of MOP$300 (about US$40) will be granted on actual consumption per non-local participant for their incentive activity in Macau.
Applicants who are qualified for the program must meet relevant requirements. The program is only applicable to events that are confirmed by December 31, 2012 with proof of booking submitted to MGTO by means of signed documentation or contract and receipt of deposit. The applicants should also observe the procedures of application and payment.
MALAYSIA: MyCEB Launches Twin Deal to Entice Australian Incentive Groups
MyCebIn a bid to attract more Australian corporate and incentive groups to the country, the Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) has launched the Malaysia's Twin Deal Program for Australia in Melbourne, Australia.
The two-pronged approach offer rewards for both incentive planners and participants.
Malaysia's Twin Deal program is applicable to corporate and incentive groups from Australia. Confirmed bookings must be made between January to December 2012 for group arrival period from January 2012 to 31 December 2013.
SINGAPORE: Starwood Woos MICE Planners with "The Unbeatable Spirit of Thailand" Campaign
Starwood Preferred PlannerStarwood Asia Pacific Hotels & Resorts launched of "The Unbeatable Spirit of Thailand" campaign to woo MICE planners back to the destination post-floods.
Although none of the properties suffered any damage from the floods in Bangkok, business at all the Thai hotels was nonetheless affected as visitor arrivals to Thailand fell.
As part of the campaign, Starwood's properties in Bangkok and selected hotels in Thailand's central, northern and southern regions are offering a meeting deal that is valid until 31 March 2012. The offer includes a 10 per cent discount off the master bill and planners also get to choose two out of four value-adds, including conference package upgrade, double room upgrade allocation, double complimentary room allocation and complimentary WiFi in the meeting room.
CHINA: Langham Club in Xintiandi Unveiled

Located on Level 27, The Langham Club is open 24 hours and from the moment they arrive, guests will experience seamless service from the personalised check-in, to the welcome drink served in their own private club.
Guests can enjoy breakfast, all day refreshments and then in the evening, fine wine or premium brand beverage. While in their guestroom, guests also benefit from a complimentary mini-bar throughout their stay.
The Langham Club is included complimentary for guests staying in either a Club or Suite guestroom.

Mobile Boarding Pass Service for CX Pax Departing from HK
Cathay Pacific Airways launched its new Mobile Boarding Pass service that offers additional convenience for passengers departing from Hong Kong International Airport. Passengers traveling on Cathay Pacific who check-in using the airline's Online Check-In facility can choose to receive a boarding pass directly on their mobile devices via email or SMS text message, enabling them to enjoy a completely paperless experience. The image, which will be accepted as a bona fide boarding pass at the airport, will include a lounge invitation, if applicable, and details of how to proceed at the airport.
At present, the Mobile Boarding Pass service is only available to passengers departing from Hong Kong and Auckland who are travelling point to point on Cathay Pacific flights.
Singapore Airlines A380 Now Serving Frankfurt and New York
The Singapore Airlines Airbus A380 is now flying to Frankfurt and New York.
Frankfurt and New York are Singapore Airlines' ninth and tenth destinations to receive the superjumbo. Frankfurt is Singapore Airlines' fourth point in Europe to be added to the list, after London, Paris and Zurich, while New York is the second point in North America, after Los Angeles.
The Singapore Airlines A380 has proven exceptionally popular with customers, with strong loads on all routes it serves. The world's first carrier to operate the A380 in October 2007, Singapore Airlines has since carried more than 6 million customers on the superjumbo system-wide. The airline currently has 15 A380s in service and four more on firm order.
