The Rome Cavalieri is now part of the prestigious Waldorf Astoria Collection and has recently undergone a multi-million dollar renovation of the Congress Centre and has added a third swimming pool.

MSC Cruises recently launched its latest mega-ship, MSC Poesia, in a christening ceremony in Dover, England. MSC Cruises’ “Godmother,” legendary actress, Sophia Loren was there to mark the first ever launch of an MSC Cruises ship outside of Italy. The MSC Poesia comprises 1,275 cabins with occupancy for 3,013 passengers, 4 restaurants, 10 bars, two pool areas and a wellness center and spa.

The ship will accommodate groups from 20 to 3,000 attendees. The meeting center on the MSC Poesia accommodates delegates theater style. Corporate groups can also use the ship’s public rooms, catering for all sized groups and all rooms are equipped with A/V. Facilities available for group use include the Carlo Felice Theatre, Zebra Bar & Lounge, Le Moulin Rouge, the Cyber café, the Hitchcock Lounge, the Wine Bar the card room and The Library. Nine Swiss Convention Centers are forming a new international marketing alliance to further Switzerland’s promotion of large events to the international market. The centers, Beaulieu Lausanne, Casino Kursaal Interlaken, Montreux Music & Convention Centre (2m2c), CICG Geneva, Congress Center Basel, Davos Congress, KKL Luzern, Kongresshaus Zürich and Palazzo dei congressi Lugano, will not have a separate sales office, but will remain with SCIB (Switzerland Convention & Incentive Bureau) and with the local destinations or the sales offices of the individual venues.

The newly formed consortium will become active in the international MICE markets and a new brochure will be forthcoming.

Swiss Convention Centres will make its official debut at this year’s EIBTM, which takes place in Barcelona from 2 to 4 December.

Munich International Airport received the Best Airport Europe for the fourth year in a row in the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2008.
