Manila, the country’s capital, is the center for business, commerce, and government. It is the largest urban area in the country comprised of 14 cities and 3 municipalities.

The name Manila came from “nilad”, which means flower of an indigo plant used for dying native fabrics during the pre‑colonial Spanish times. Manila prominently figured in the first trans‑Pacific trade where products were inter‑changed from three continents: Asia, America and Europe for three centuries. The vessels that plied the lucrative Pacific route were called Manila Galleons.

After surviving the colonial periods of Spain, Japan, China and the United States of America for fifty years, the first Philippine Republic of 1898 was born with Manila as the heart of the National Capital Region.

Today, Manila is the gateway to many island destinations and offers a wide range of sights, services and facilities.

Playing host to visitors from all over the world is not new to Manila. For centuries, Manila has been the meeting point of cultures, religions, political ideas, trade and commerce.
Manila took Asia’s center stage when it blazed the trail for the MICE industry with the inauguration of the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in 1976 as the first full‑fledged convention center that can meet the requirements of any event, big or small.

After two decades of gaining strength, professionalism and expertise, Metro Manila now plays host to MICE events/activities year round.

It boasts of world class MICE facilities, amenities, efficient services at affordable cost, making it an ideal MICE destination.
