Museums

The history of Shanghai can be traced in several museums in the city. Shanghai Museum showcases the best collection of antique objects the city has to offer, ranging from bronze, ceramics, statues of furniture and costumes. Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center displays all the achievements the municipal government has made. Shanghai History Museum is where you can learn about the history of Shanghai since the mid‑1800s.

Art/Theatre

The art scene in Shanghai is vibrant, with hundreds of galleries spreading all over the city. Shanghai Art Museum is where the major art exhibitions and events are held. The most noteworthy show is the Shanghai Biennale, an international art exhibition that runs every two years. Designed by Charpentier's France, the new style architecture of Shanghai Grand Theater combines Eastern and Western flavor. The theater hosts opera, ballet and symphony events, within three theaters. With 1,800 seats, the lyric theater is divided into the auditorium, the 2nd‑floor, the 3rd‑floor and six balconies. The drama theater has 750 seats and the studio theater has 300 seats. The new theater is the Expo Performance Center with 18,000 seats which is the newest great culture venue in the Expo 2010 Shanghai China.

Shopping

Shanghai is where you shop till you drop. There are a great number of shopping malls in Shanghai. Shopping streets and antique streets are where you may enjoy bargaining much more than shopping. The most famous shopping areas are Nanjing Road, Huaihai Road and Xujiahui.

Shanghai was once known as the Adventurerís Paradise. Today, such an adventure takes place on your plate. In Shanghai, you could find almost every cuisine from all over China and many other countries as well.

Events

Shanghai is the city full of exciting events. Besides the largest scale World Expo in 2010, the city hosts the Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix, ATP Tennis Masters 1000, Shanghai Tourism Festival, Shanghai International Music Fireworks Festival and the Shanghai International Rugby Sevens annually.
